This was a strange and special year in boxing, considering the COVID-19 pandemic and the restrictions placed on the sport and throughout the world. Boxing still went on. Fights took place, including some big ones, featuring great comebacks and amazing finishes. The Boxing Writers Association of America, which has been in existence for 94 years and selects the best of the best in boxing every year, is looking forward to a huge 2021. Katie Taylor reigns again as the BWAA's 2020 Female Fighter of the Fighter and No. 1 Pound-For-Pound
This year wasn’t as easy as 2019 in so many ways for Katie Taylor. Still, despite the COVID-19 pandemic ripping through boxing and the rest of the world, the 34-year-old lightweight world champion from Bray, Ireland, managed to succeed. It’s been a while since the Boxing Writers Association of America conducted its bimonthly pound-for-pound top-10 rankings poll. Because the COVID-19 pandemic wiped out the possibility of major fights taking place for months, the BWAA placed a pause on the rankings poll after April.
